Renewing your SPE Membership 14 Nov 2016

With Christmas around the corner, it is also time to renew your SPE Membership for 2017. Unfortunately, members who haven't paid their dues by 1 January will lose membership privileges until their dues are paid. Visit http://www.spe.org/join/renew.php to renew.

SPE is the largest individual member organization serving managers, engineers, scientists and other professionals worldwide in the upstream segment of the oil and gas industry.

The SPE Western Australia Section is a very active section providing a wide range of education and networking opportunities. Over the last year alone, SPE organised 11 Luncheons including three Distinguish Lectures, 11 Continuous Education seminars, 11 Oil and Gas Facilities Group lectures, several Young professionals events (workshops, seminars, gala dinner), a Mentoring program, awarded four student scholarships and organised several social events (e.g. Gala dinner and sundowner).

If you are a former member, now is a good time to reinstate your lapsed membership.

For those affected by the downturn, SPE offers a dues waiver for renewing members who have lost their jobs due to the industry downturn and other circumstances. To qualify, submit a written request by email (service@spe.org) or postal mail. Recently, SPE has launched a Members in Transit toolkit (http://www.spe.org/members/transition/).

The Section is strong with more than 1,000 professional and 440 student members. 2016 membership has fallen to its 2010 level. SPE WA members are mostly involved in Reservoir dynamics and drilling/ completions with about one third of the members looking after production/operations and facilities. Almost half of the members have 10 to 30 years’ experience, while Young Professionals still represent close to one third of professional members.
