SPE WA Young Professionals Quiz Night By David Bason, Woodside, SPE WA YP, 17 Jul 2017

In late June the SPE WA Young Professionals (YP) Section held its annual quiz night at the Rooftop Terrace of the Universal Bar in Northbridge.

The event was an excellent networking opportunity for the local engineering community to get together and test their knowledge on a range of topics including sport, music and film. Woodside and Chevron were particularly well represented by the attendees.

The relaxed environment of the terrace was the perfect setting for a tightly contested quiz, which went right down to the wire. The winning team led for most of the night and, despite being pegged back by Quiztina Aguilera in the final rounds and forced into a tiebreaker, they were able to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

“It was pretty tight throughout the night but unfortunately we couldn't quite get over the line. We had a great time and will be back next year," said Quitzina Aguilera team member, Ben Atherton.

SPE WA YP Board Member and joint host for the evening, David Bason believed that the event was a success and he was impressed to see that the attendees seized on the chance to network with their peers - the challenges and opportunities of the oil and gas industry were amongst the topics discussed over dinner.

SPE WA YPs host many events throughout the year including Technical 101 sessions and other developmental events. Look out for details of future events, which includes the annual SPE YP gala ball, on the SPE WA website.
